Boulder is a great place to live, but when it comes to high-end outdoor gear things can get expensive in this college town. There are several places to buy gear, REI, North Face, Mont-Bell, Neptune Mountaineering, Boulder Ski Deals and the list goes on and on. I will say these are all decent places to shop, but nothing special. If you think style should come before quality, jump on the Vanity Fair wagon and head to North Face with every other college wannabe student in town. Neptune Mountaineering offers very knowable sales staff but you are lucky to get someone to talk to you if they don?t know who you are, the whole clique thing again. But, then there is a hidden treasure I found ?Boulder Mountaineering?. Although, the place is a little small it is packed with knowledge, integrity, and good down to earth people that you can trust 100%, ask for Shondia she knows what she is talking about and very helpful. When I was there they were having a sale with 40% off sale on almost the entire shop, pro-deals for everyone I was thinking. The only time I got a deal like this at REI was during the garage sale and it was something that had been used. Boulder Mountaineering also has a website, if you can?t make it into the shop you can shop online with deals up to 75% off. If you are looking for a ?GREAT? place to get more for your hard earned money give Boulder Mountaineering a locally owned business a chance to earn your business. The one thing I have to say I appreciated the most while shopping there was when I was walking out Shondia called me by name and thanked me for my business. I can?t even remember the last time this happened at an outdoor gear shop. Pros: Great prices and people that know their stuff Cons: Small space
