My wife and I were so pleased with our first visit to Cucina Roma Roma last night that I decided to contribute a review. It?s a neighborhood family-type restaurant, but with a nice twist--not only do they have the normal pizza, spaghetti, and red-sauce dishes that are popular with kids, but they have a number of upscale entres for mom and dad, too?items like osso bucco, calamari, and veal parmigiano; a very nice wine list, too.
The prices seem quite reasonable, and menu items we had were outstanding in flavor. The wedding soup is intensely savory and very engaging; the caesar salad dressing is very well-balanced without being too ?vinegary? and the parmesan sprinkled on it was not at all ordinary; my pasta carbonara was so creamy I nearly needed a soup spoon, although it could have used a bit more pancetta and a bit more salt; and my wife?s spaghetti with sausage was some of the best she?s ever had. And, bread with olive oil dipping sauce!
The decor is a bit understated, but the service was very prompt, pleasant and down-to-earth, none of the sing-songy, ?Hi, my name is Tiffany, and I?ll be your server tonight,? type of insincerity you get from the big chains sometimes. And--they take reservations for any size party, unlike some of the snooty restaurants that are too busy to bother. It?s really nice to have another good dinner restaurant in the immediate neighborhood; we?ll be regulars.
Pros: Very tasty food, availability of some upscale entres, prices very reasonable, good wine list, very good service
Cons: Decor a bit understated
