Review content:
We live in Three Rivers, but decided to send our son to Mendon when he started school. We thought he would receive a better education. When my son started Kindergarten, he could read quite a few words. I didn't teach him to read, he somehow picked it up on his own. He was able to sound out and write many words by himself. By the time he finished Kindergarten in Mendon, he had barely improved over his initial abilities. He could have been reading full books if they had built on his skills. I tried to encourage him to read more at home, but he told me that they were not reading books in school, so he did not think he should read them at home.
In first grade, he had a horrible male teacher that continually yelled at the class. I did not find out the extent of the sitation until after my son was out of his class. I have talked to several other people with children at Mendon, and if you mention this particular teachers name, it is met with the same type of reaction. He should not be teaching young children.
My children now attend Three Rivers schools, and we coulnd't be happier. We know several other children in the same grades as our children, and they do not seem to be making the same progress in Mendon as they are in Three Rivers.
