My first experience at Kinetic was mind blowing. It redefined the way that I viewed church. First of all, it meets in a movie theater, which I thought was different at first, but very cool. The people were very welcoming. For the most part everyone was in their 20's or 30's. It was nice because I didn't have to worry about how I looked. There were people there with tatoos, t-shirts and jeans, and the lead singer was sporting a mohawk. Even the minister was dressed down. The music was awesome! When I got into the service (past the mine field of donuts and soda), I thought it was going to be a little strange, but instead it was incredible. They had a stage set up with colored lights and a loud band with lots of guitars and drums. The guys were jumping all around on stage. It was like going to a concert. The actual sermon was really good. The minister used the Bible, but made it sound more like a story and really connected it to my life. It moved me to the point of tears and made me realize it wasn't until then that I finally got it. God doesn't ask us to worship him quietly and just attend church on Sunday. He is something to be celebrated and to be willing to be loud about. You don't have to wear your best Sunday suit and sing a bunch of hymns while thinking about what you did the night before. God takes you right where you are however broken you are. After service many people introduced themselves and invited me out to lunch or coffee. I loved it so much that I've been going back now for over two years. People there really care about each other and make sure that nobody slips through the cracks. Judgement is not passed. It's a good feeling. For the first time in my life, I look forward to going to church every Sunday. That for me is nothing short of a miracle.
Pros: Caring people, cool location, awesome band, good message
Cons: Theater is dark and it's hard to follow along in your bible
