Review content:
I happened upon a bag of scones from the Village Bakery at my husband's office a few days ago, and I couldn't believe how amazing it was: very moist (something hard to come by in this type of pastry) and delicately sweetened. Finally I got to see the place in person and enjoy a sampling of cookies. I'm not sure if it's just because it was a quiet Sunday afternoon, but the selection was slight, and the cookies, though delicious, had a sort of strange aftertaste. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it was not altogether pleasant and seemed to dominate the flavor of the three different cookies I tried: the "oreo", the chocolate chip, and the sugar cookie. I was disappointed, but my husband swears by it and so I'm willing to give it another try.
