When I first moved to Seattle, I had a hard time finding the right salon and the right stylist. Yes, there are lots of salons out there to choose from, but I got tired of the stylist who was only out to sell me product. Or the stylist who was only out to cut my hair they way s/he wanted it to look...or the way that would guarantee I'd be back soon to get a touch up. Finally, I found Paul Horner. Paul is an incredibly talented colorist and complete style coordinator. He has trained with many of the top names in the business and has developed a skillset that is hard to find. He took the time to listen to me and get my hair just perfect. He understands what my hair can take and what my lifestyle is really all about. He makes recommendations, but he always accommodates what I want. If what I want is a bad idea, he'll let me know and develop a plan for something better. That's a great balance of listening, accommodating and then coming up with a result that makes me look my very best. Also at Estrella, you'll want to make an appointment with Taylor. Taylor is a skin specialist, and she does the best waxing I've ever had. I never feel "roughed up", and I'm always happy with her results. The spa also offers massage and other services, but I've never had them. Others have told me they're great. I've seen the massage room space, and it is very quiet and private. I think I would like it a lot more than many of the big salon "day spa" spaces around. There is always street parking near Estrella -- even parking that accommodates my big truck! The salon is small, but cozy and private. It is always clean, well decorated and cheerful. The reception seating is comfortable and always filled with an assortment of the latest magazines. There's a Tully's nearby if you need a coffee, and they're always offering to get you a drink to make you even more comfortable. Plus, around the holidays you're guaranteed to find chocolates and other goodies to make you smile even more. You can pick up a wide assortment of products at Estrella while you're there, but they're a "no pressure" salon. Nobody has ever tried to oversell me, and that's something I really appreciate. Don't keep looking around town. Make an appointment with Paul and Taylor now. You won't regret it!
