Review content:
Personalized customer service died a quiet death in most of bicycle retail years ago — unless you're lucky enough to find a place like Rapid Transit (Bucktown/Chicago) and Bob's, here in Park Ridge. Bob himself should be found here most days and I've had my own commuter ride in for regular service with him. I've also purchased a bike and a scooter from his sizeable inventory for my two preschool boys and sure, I could've saved a few bucks at a big box store, but I like to reward small businesses that try to win on service.
Bob's inventory of adult bikes is very strong on Trek and Klein; I can't recall what 3rd or 4th brands he might carry, but those two manufacturers are likely to have something for you. He also has a big accessory wall, so you shouldn't be disappointed unless your needs are highly specialized.
If you're within a few miles of uptown Park Ridge, Give Bob's a shot!
