It was deliciously satisfying! We were greeted by smiling, helpful people. We looked over the menu and then the buffet line. The buffet looked and smelled soooo good. And it was! My mother-in-law ordered the Oxtail, sweet potatoes, & lima beans. I ordered smothered pork chop, sw.potatoes, & collard greens-I needed to know what they were supposed to taste like as compared with my poor attempt. Everything was sooo good. The pork chops & oxtails were oh-so tender and tasty. (never had oxtails before!) The lima beans smooth & satisfying, the potatoes sweet and southern. Collard greens heavenly. I would have liked 2 cornbread muffins, instead of 1, so I could finish soppin' up the juices and gravy. Yummy!!! The peach cobbler put me over the top!!
Apparently (after reading some negative reviews from 2005/2006) they have made great changes. After our lunch, we spoke with the owner and his wife, both lovely friendly people, and learned that they, up under new management, HAD made some changes with still more to come. They also have a coffee bar which Alvin central needs!! I live up the road in Pearland and am already craving my next meal there!!! Want to try the Chicken & Waffles!! Also want to say that the location and ambience gives Fat Daddy's exciting character. Looking forward to catching some live music some weekend, too. Great date spot. I'm spreading the word!!!
I will be sure to post some more reviews after a few more visits. I want to make sure this wasn't beginner's blessing.
