I rate this store 1 Star (actually less) because the store must be rated as a whole, all products and all service (employees). There are a few employees and department heads that do not deserve this rating or review. Still, their fine efforts and commitment to customer service are not enough to improve my overall rating of this store.
In regards to service, I find the store to be the worst when compared to any other home store in the Fresno/Clovis area. Most departments are below average, with the plumbing and millworks department consistently being above average. My main grief with this store is actual experiences with the flooring department and in connection with this, the store manager. I had an experience of absolute unacceptable, rude service from the flooring department manager. There was no reason for his behavior. Maybe he was having a bad day, but his attitude and behavior was so bad and uncalled for that I wrote a formal complaint to the corporate offices. I can tell you this is a waste of time. The complaint is just referred to to the store manager who did nothing but protect his employee and overlook his unacceptable behavior. My two different incidents with this department as well as the apathetic attitude of most employees in this store gives Clovis Lowes' the lowest rating possible for service.
Other than service, there are products. They sell OK products, mostly manufactured stuff in boxes. So really no complaint with that stuff. Just like any home store I guess. But as a general contractor, I buy lumber 2-3 times a week. This (and other Lowes') will hold on to all the split, warped, lumber discarded by other shoppers, because the materials are unusable. They will keep restacking this garbage until the entire shelf is nothing but a pallet load of junk. I have spent 30 minutes digging through this garbage to end up with 8 usable redwood 2x6's. Problem is, I needed 24. This is now the last place I will shop for lumber.
Pros: Sometimes they are close by to buy a box of screws
Cons: Customer service is a joke and the lumber is absolute garbage!
