Review content:
Scrapbook Attack is my neighborhood scrapbook source. They have a huge selection of paper and embellishments and a super friendly staff. I know that many independently owned scrapbook stores are having a hard time competing with the huge craft stores that carry everything and Scrapbook Attack is one of them. Although I don't understand why, because Scrapbook Attack's prices are competitive and the quality is so much better, and the staff is so much more knowledgeable than other places that sell cake pans, terracotta pots and oil paint along with their scrapbook supplies.
As much as I love Scrapbook Attack, I do have several complaints. I became a "Varstiy Member" in December 2005 and for $15 a year, was able to get a store discount and attend one free crop night a month, plus several other sweet benefits. Although I didn't attend as many crops as I would have liked to, I had a blast and got a ton done when I did. Unfortunately, Scrapbook Attack has discontinued the Varsity Club. I know they will keep up the great deals through coupons and other things, but I really loved the free crops. Each crop costs $10, but if you spend $20 on product, then they waive the fee.
Also, I really do hate taking my kids in there and I get the feeling that the employees hate having my kids there too. There is a "pen" set up for the kids with some old toys in it, but it's small and my kids easily escape. Some stores I've been in have a much better set up to keep kids entertained. That would be nice if Scrapbook Attack had something like that but I realize there isn't much room.
I hope the huge craft stores don't drive our special, independently owned stores out of business. There is something to be said for a personal touch, and Scrapbook Attack certainly has that as well as an awesome selection of quality scrapbook supplies!
