Review content:
My first appointment was pretty good in that they provided me with great information on spinal health, they took x-rays (of which they did not cover the remaining parts of my body with those iron-clad vests; which basically left me exposed to unecessary radiation) gave me a lower back massage with muscle relaxing gel and gave me a very minor adjustment to my neck. I rescheduled my appointment to review my x-rays and to obtain a more comprehensive adjustment on the following Tuesday. After reviewing the x-rays, we sat down and the doc went over how much my treatment was going to be. Over the course of the year, he wanted me to pay $2700, which of course he said I could break up into payments. After he gave me that quote, he asked me if I thought that my insurance would be taking care of the bill. And I explained to him that yes, I thought insurance would be taking care of most of it. Well, the doc said that if he took my insurance, he would only be left with about $5 which wouldn't even cover the cost of lighting the office. Again, I reiterated that I had insurance and that I could have 30 visits per year and pay $25 per visit. He said that he didn't take my insurance. To which I said to him that I wouldn't have even come into his office if his website didn't state that he took my insurance. Then the doc said that he has been trying to get them to change the website; and perhaps the other two docs in his group would take my insurance. So, then I said to him that I even called to confirm when I made my appointment that he took my insurance. Then I said to him, "We just wasted a whole lot of time here -- your time and my time." And then the doc said, "yes, and I'm sorry -- no bad blod right?" And that's when I left. Please be careful with the Virginia Wellness Center -- it is truly a ripoff and a Bait and Switch operation in the purest form. Pros: friendly staff; easy to set an appointment Cons: bait and switch operation; they really don't take insurance when they say they do
