Alexandria is blessed by having Les Whitt as the Zoo director. He has built up a remarkable collection of animals and displays, since he took over.
this is THE place I always took my out of town visitors..... when Mr. Whitt saw me, his first question is where are your visitors from? He knew if I was there, I was showing off the zoo to out of towners. and he is friends with Jack Hanna, that has animals on Maury Povitch show...... some of our animals have starred on the show
My favorite place was the bridge, where you look out over a Koi fish pond. for a quarter, you get a handfull of fish food pellets, and can feed the fish.... they literally boil up in the water by the bridge, when people stop to look,,,,, they know gooodies are coming.
Yes, Alexandria, you are blessed..... because we almost lost Mr. Whitt a few years ago......
heart trouble..... but after a heart transplant, he still works long hours , caring for God's creatures
now you know the rest of the story..........
yes, he has had other offers. but he has said he is not leaving.
