Review content:
Galway Tribes Irish Pub & Ale House is my favorite place in Frankfort for many reasons. The beer selection is incredible and always changing; you never know what is going to be new on tap week to week. The staff is very pleasant and many have become very knowledgable about beer. The owner, who is there working quite often, has done such a great job and really responds to what works and what his customers like. Besides the beer, the food is great too. Whether you try the simple pub foods or something a little more creative, it is really hard to get a bad meal from this place. I'm a semi-professional reuben critic and Galway Tribes' reuben is the 5th best one I've ever had. (This is out of hundreds of reubens.) Besides the regular menu, there is a weekly changing menu of specials. I've had many of the specials and the majority of them are great. There have been a few that have fallen short but there are also a few that were unbelievably awesome. The tamales they served during cinco de mayo week were the best I've ever had. (That's right, the best tamales I ever had was at an Irish pub.) I appreciate the chances that chef Auriane takes with this changing menu and her food becomes art in the way a musician must take chances on the spot to really achieve greatness.
Galway Tribes has music 4 to 6 nights a week. Whether outside on the beautiful patio or inside in the pub, from acoustic bluegrass or irish music, original rock bands, reggae, blues, jam bands, New Orleans, pipers, fiddlers, steel pans, dancers, open mics, or what have you, Galway is brings it to Frankfort. I've noticed that they are very critical in having only quality live music there, whatever the music style is.
If you want to drink crappy beer, eat boring food that tastes like every corporate chain in America, or see a cheesey band with nice outfits, go to the 100's of places that have over crowded the Lincolnway area. Otherwise, come check out Galway Tribes.
Pros: Great beer, food, and music. Warm and inviting atmosphere.
Cons: Beer nerds think they know everything.
