Review content:
The world of travel is quite an interesting business. I know many of similar in home and on line travel business opportunities.....be it this. Cruise One, Cruises Only, TBU travel and so on. All promise high commissions and opportunities to travel cheap.
The first rumor is that Travel Agents travel at major discounts. The plain truth is that this is just not so. Years ago it was, but now days it is hard to find low agents rates for when you want to go. If you can go last minute on a cruise of something there are some deals, but for the most part these deals are just not there.
Another thing to watch out for. The only Travel Agent ID that will even get you the once in a while low price is an IATAN Card, or for cruise lines, a CLIA card.
The part about making a lot of money is not anything you should count on. Just booking friends is OK, but you better have tens of thousands of them or you may just dry up your market real quick.
Having an on line booking tool is good, but look at travel on the INTERNET. You will find tens of thousands of places selling the same products you do. The fact is that if you are not a top producer for each cruise line and each land tour company you likely will not be able to get the low prices that the big agencies get.
As far as commissions go, watch out. Commissions are on a downward trend. The airlines do not even pay commissions any more. The more you sell the higher your commissions. But that goes line by line. To get higher commission on say Carnival you have to book more on Carnival. That only counts for Carnival commissions. Same for RC CL, NACL, Princess, and so on.
Last but not least is how well do you know the world of travel. Even in an on line world you still need to know your product.
How are you going to get people to your site? Advertising is costly. Look at google and ask yourself how do I attract customers when you sell the same products and about the same prices of the thousands out there?
Better have an answer.
Pros: a few extra bucks
Cons: tons of compitation
