I had never been to Village Shoe Inn, but had always heard great things. When shopping for my wedding shoes, I decided to check it out. I went to the Rochester location. They had two stories of beautiful shoes, and an entire section devoted to bridal shoes. Their prices were great, they definitely have a low-overhead...the store is older, with shag carpeting, but you can look right past that!
I was pretty much left on my own to shop, which is always fine with me. It definitely had the same type of vibe as DSW, discount prices and a warehouse type feel.
