I booked this trip based on the recommendation of several private fishing charters who stated your boats had quality experienced crews and I wanted to go where I could take advantage of some fishing knowledge and increase our chances of coming back with at least a couple fish. I also studied your website fish counts daily for a month prior to my trip but found the stories on the dock were not consistent with the website counts. I was told the only ones catching fish were 2 or more days out. The confusing part is I was only referencing overnight trip fish counts and am unclear why the dock would tell me it has been really slow when the website indicated something different for the same time period? Second, I booked an overnight trip with the Pacific Queen based on the fish counts noted and through the recommendation of your office but wished I never went. I paid for a FISHING trip not a BOATING trip! For a trip that took nearly 24 hours, I actually fished no more than a collective hour? The crew was so caught up in fishing themselves, they ignored the overall flow of their paying patrons. Regardless, each time we foudn a school of Tuna, we fished for roughly 5-10 minutes tops. They told us all to reel in our lines and we would move to another spot to find a school stating the school we were fishing were not biting. Why would you leave a school of fish without working them and giving them an opportunity to bite? Seriously, I am not professional angler but I have never seen or heard of giving an obviously large school of fish 5-10 minutes to start a bite? Additionally, the deckhands spent more time using our gear and fishing as opposed to serving the paying patrons. In short, I paid to fish not to watch deckhands fish for me! Whether it was having to fish around them or ask for my pole back after they would grab random poles and fish on our gear, they would pull them from us and take the fight on as opposed to giving us recommendations and letting us enjoy the fight. Absolutely the worst experience I have ever paid for! Aside from finding a few schools, we collectively fished them no longer than an hour of the 20+ hours on the boat. Yes, I timed our fishing and it did NOT exceed an hour of actual fishing when a school was found. The longest run was when the paid angler who caught the only fish of the trip was fighting his fish and stayed until he landed the fish. That took about 30 minutes and was the longest we had to fish. Lastly, I was told by the office we would fish from first light until 3PM and would get us back by 9PM. I paid over $1,000 to fly my party down from Northern California, Another $1,000 to take this trip and at 12:30PM the captain of our boat decided we would head back since we were not catching. We arrived in Point Loma at around 6:30 but considering they had to reload bait and fuel for the next party, we didn't get off the boat for another 2 hours. Just an overall lousy service, I didn't get what was paid for, I spent a ton of money to ride around on a fishing vessel with limited seating to fish for about an hour. The only positive thing I could state is the boat was well kept and overall the crew were nice guys, just lousy when it came to providing the service they sell. Pros: Clean Boat Cons: Too much boating NOT fishing?
