Review content:
I had a bad experience at Hush a few months ago but wasn't going to bother with a review until I came across the previous two duelling reviews: whimsicalif's less-than-glowing review and chrislaws82's attempt to defend Kelly K's honor with a point-by-point rebuttal of whimsicalif's critique. Like whimsicalif, I also had Kelly K, who had been recommended to me by the woman who booked my appointment. (guess the fact that she was available at the last minute should've been my first clue) Kelly K wasn't particularly friendly, but I was willing to let her lack of warmth pass as long as I got a good cut. My hair is long and straight and all I wanted was a trim with the ends beveled so that they curve under slightly when air-dried (a simple cut that's never been a problem before). After Kelly K had blown dry my hair it looked just fine but after washing my hair the next morning I was dismayed to see that instead of gently curving under like it used to, my hair was now all wonky, flipping out in several directions. A flip hairstyle may have looked good on Marlo Thomas in "That Girl" (back in the sixties!) but it was definitely not the look I was going for. I called Hush and the receptionist told me Kelly K would fix it if I came back in but I decided to play it safe and get my hair re-trimmed at a different salon. My overall impression of the stylists was that they were a bunch of inexperienced teenyboppers (tm cvmilla) flitting around in skimpy outfits doing their own hair and make-up and giggling about boys. I'm all for a good gossip session and ogling of beautiful men but not when it comes at the expense of professionalism and the ability to do one's job competently. Ironically, Kelly K was older than the other stylists so I would have assumed that she's more experienced than the teenybopper set but my flip hairstyle would indicate otherwise. If you're looking for a bad cut, high prices and a bunch of giggly trainees, Hush is the place for you.
Pros: None
Cons: Inexperienced stylists = bad haircuts
