Review content:
Rick's Barbecque is located in what the Arkansas Times described as the "Bermuda Triangle" of Maumelle/North Little Rock. So my husband and I's heart sank when we saw it was opening. Didn't they know Firehouse BBQ and Chameleon Cafe had tried and failed at this spot? Well we decided to go in and take a peek before they disappeared like the others.
If you like slow smoked barbecque, and a bustling restuarant Rick's is for you. Everytime we've been in or driven by the parking lot is packed. Maybe this is what Maumelle/North Little Rock needs to turn the "Bermuda Triangle" around.
The food is nothing short of amazing. We ordered a rib plate and a combination plate. While I still like the sausage at Bare Bones better, the pulled pork and the ribs are out of this world. The side dishes are your typical coleslaw and potato salad and taste like they're out of the carton. The corn nuggets and Sunday's special home cooked meal (chicken and dressing, sweet potato casserole and green beans) are another story! The Sunday special is amazing, hopefully it will bring their other sides into line.
In short, I highly recommend Rick's. Be patient, the place is packed and it does take a little bit to get your food. I think they are still hiring wait staff, they didn't anticipate being this busy.
There's a picture of Bill Clinton with Rick above the register, so it has the Presidential stamp of approval and for barbecque, that's really something. Bubba knows his BBQ.
