Review content:
My family recently went to Chevy's Mexican Restaurant on a Friday evening to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were told that the wait would be approximately 20 minutes, but they ended up having a table ready for us within just 2 minutes. Chevy's large main room is generally crowded in the evenings, especially on weekends, and the crowd coupled with poor acoustics can make for a noisy environment. It can be difficult to carry on a conversation with someone across your table. We ordered the Nachos Grande, a heaping portion of tortilla chips smothered with shredded chicken, beans, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole, as an appetizer. The wait for the nachos was such that we started to wonder if they were going to come out before our meals or not. They did finally show, but only about five minutes before our main courses were served. In the meantime, another Chevy's employee visited the tables in our section performing magic tricks, which was an interesting twist to the standard dining experience. While my daughter munched on a cheese quesadilla and french fries, my husband enjoyed the enormous Taste of Chevys, and I had Crispy Flautas, crisped rolled tortillas stuffed with chicken and cheese. Although the tortillas themselves could have been crispier, the flavor was very good. Our server was polite, but the service lagged a bit, probably due to the number of other patrons demanding her attention. It took several requests to have our drinks refilled. All in all, I don't think this is a place for romantic dates, but it's a winner for big groups out for good food and a fun evening.
