Review content:
Since I live just down the road from this salon here in West Linn,
I've been here several times for various services.
Since they are so close to where I live I really wanted them to be a good salon home for me,
as I get several services regularly and that would have been great for me.
First I want to say that Kathy has given me several really excellent haircuts and is very personable.
Maria is also very professional and a skilled hair stylist. In fact, I'm not sure why she wants to work there.
But there is a general environment of closed-ness and tension at the salon that I find unwelcoming and uncomfortable.
I also received a pedicure there that I wouldn't bother to go back for again.
I had my brows waxed there once, and the gal used a stencil (!) and gave me brows that looked like big commas stamped on my forehead. It took some time for them to grow back out to the "natural enhanced" look I prefer. I had told her I wanted them to look "neat but natural"
Several times I have walked in to book an appointment after shopping at the Safeway market,
and been met with a gathering, apparently of stylists, at the front desk.
Instead of discreetly moving away so that i can speak to the receptionist, they all stand there staring at me unsmiling, as though I were interrupting their conversation, in a very unfriendly manner.
Like "how dare I walk into their salon without an appointment" .
There is one short-haired older woman in particular, I don't know if she is a stylist or the owner,
who never smiles at me when I am there. Even if I smile and greet her,
she just stares at me. It's eerie. I feel scrutinized.
Their receptionists are frankly snotty and unprofessional, not at all friendly or down to earth,
creating an atmosphere of discomfort. They watch you like a hawk if you dare to approach their product displays. I guess some people just don't know how to be friendly.
Pros: two good hair stylists-Kathy& Maria
Cons: clique-ish stylists, unprofessional staff, uncomfortable salon environment, pressure to give out their business cards
