Took my beloved Golden Retriever to Dr. Costas on the advice of a friend of a family member. I told the doctor that my dog had lost weight and had black stools. She did not seem alarmed and said that it was good that older dogs lost weight. Three weeks later, I took my dog back to Dr. Costas with a stool sample and more weight loss. The doctor again did not seem concerned and wanted us to wait for 2-3 more weeks to get an MRI with a travelling technician. I took our beautiful little boy to an animal hospital that had an on-site MRI. They discovered a fast growing tumor on his intestines. He had surgery that night, but he only lasted 5 days. We are heartbroken.
