Review content:
I was a patient at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) in 2018 and 2019. I had extensive work done and a couple of years later when the bridge broke, they were rude and refused to fix their mistake even though I was told they would ensure their work. I had also written a letter about the negative treatment I received and how rude the staff and residents were that I never received a response to until 4 years later when I gained access to the school’s directory by becoming a student (majoring in another specialty-not dentistry, of course). The Patient Ombudsman, Mr. Ronald Chenette, finally responded to my letter about my concerns that I had written 4 years prior, and completely ignored my patient rights (which, they list on their site) and made excuses for the facility and told me not to return because they do not know how to handle themselves ETHICALLY. Anxiety and Dentaphobia is one of the primary things that most dentists face in this country and they are not equipped to deal with patients who have panic attacks and anxiety when dealing with dentists. If you want quality work, and a caring dentist who upholds their mission statement and does not deny their patients basic rights, please ask your primary dentist for a referral for anywhere else but UMSOD! If you suffer from Anxiety or Dentaphobia (fear of the dentist) or get panic attacks, PLEASE GO TO A PROFESSIONAL DENTIST WHO UNDERSTANDS THESE COMMON issues. You are not the problem, if a facility cannot properly help you with your concerns and anxiety, they are the problem!
