Review content:
Two year nightmare with Grant Johnson and Island Pools! I hired him to re-plaster my pool in January 2020. Two months later, the job was complete and when he assured me that the splotchy color of the plaster would cure on its own, I paid him in full. Well, not only did that NOT happen, but it got far worse. There are visible footprints of his workers in the plaster, as well as distinct stripes/trowel lines in differing colors, and the surface is very rough and pitted. The underwater light cavities were over- and underfilled with the new plaster and now one light is sunken too far into its spot while the other hangs out awkwardly. (Not to mention I had to hire someone else to get the lights working again after Johnson and crew were done, and to repair a pool equipment pipe he sawed in half attempting to locate a leak that occurred after their work, which I eventually paid someone else to repair, and I had to replace two patio rugs that his crew tore up with the machinery they used right on top of them.) After two months of him promising to remedy the issues, but taking no action, I consulted other companies who all agreed that the issues were caused by Johnson's improper plaster application process and improper re-filling process. When he still refused to remedy the situation, I filed suit against him. Somehow, he's successfully dodged service to date. If my experience with him and his business is typical, I'll bet he's had a lot of practice hiding from process servers.
