Review content:
I was initially going to leave a three star review, since they were the only domestic abuse shelter with an opening and they picked me up from the bus station, but after today I felt compelled to revise my rating to one star. The housing coordinator at SAVE left me abusive letters on my bed, telling me I wasn't improving myself. She took three vacations while I was there, over the span of a month, and does not work Fridays, but said she somehow knew I wasn't making phone calls to find housing. Also there was an issue with the toilet in the room I shared with three other women, so management told us we had to throw used toilet paper in the wastebasket, even when we if had a bowel movement, rather than flushing it or using either of the two free unused toilets. I felt this was unsanitary and a biohazard. The other unsanitary part to our bedroom were some unused kitchen cabinets with dead bugs inside, which I was told to put my belongings in. I mentioned this and they told me they expected I should clean that out myself. Towards the end of my stay management held a meeting where I was confronted by multiple people who blamed me for speaking up about the unsanitary bathroom conditions, telling me I wasn't grateful, abused people should accept anything. I was issued a warning for speaking up, and today they unexpectedly told me to leave at noon, without discussing this with me the day before. They also called a policeman while I was quietly packing. I was actually thankful he was there, and commend him for being polite and listening to me. They do not help women here, other than providing them with a bed and a safe location. Some of the women still haven't found housing after several months.
