My Yorkie ate a pork bone a couple of days before I brought him to Rowland animal clinic due to two days of him throwing up his food . I immediately thought that the bone was lodged in his system. I took him in for a simple xray to see if there was a blockage. X-ray were taken and I explained to Dr. Dennis Johnson that he is not having any problems with passing of his stool. Dr. Johnson saw the x-ray his reply was that if Vinnie was ever hit by a car and I immediately said no. Doc said that he had a ruptured diaphragm and that his lower organs were pushing up into his chest cavity. Told me that this will kill him if not operated on and that it can cost up to $10,000 dollars and also asked me if Vinnle was on heart medication because he sees that he has a bad heart. I literally was floored by all this hitting me at once. I sat there sitting on the floor with Vinnie just crying for him because I couldn't believe what I was hearing .He said that if I paid an extra $195.00 for a Radiologist consult that they can take a closer and better look at the situation, so of course I agreed. And meanwhile more x-rays were needed and also blood work was needed. Anyways, after this huge scare of the worst picture imaginable that I was given to deal with. The Dr. comes back into the room and finds me crying and then tells me he has good news. Vinnie does not in fact has no ruptured diaphragm and all the test ruled that out. Turns out that the liver generally enlarged. Vinnie got (2) shots and a (14) pills And I got the scare of my life and a $724.30 bill for which most of the test was performed for something that they said he had but obviously did not have. Is this a scare tactic? Cause you can tell an animal owner anything and they will fall for it because that animal is family and you are very vulnerable to pay just about anything to get them well again. Anyways, the very next day after the big scare Vinnie is himself playing, barking, running and playing as if nothing ever happened except I still have a big bill to pay.
