Review content:
I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the excellent care I received while a patient at Kindred, Ocala, Florida. I came to your facility after complex surgery at my local hospital. The wound was large and the possibility of infection needed to be addressed daily. When I arrived at your facility about 10:00 at night I was greeted by Loma Lee, RN, the Wound Care Coordinator. Loma is a fantastic person and extremely competent. She reviewed my condition, cleaned my wound, took pictures of the wound so she could design the "bridges" and other structures necessary to apply a wound vac. She would explain each process to me as she cared for me. I did know until later, that she was working at home that night determining the best way to apply the wound vac to give me maximum benefit and my care and treatment In my initial conversation with my surgeon, Dr. Jason Smith, AdventHealth Medical Group, he felt that it may require 3 and possibly 4 months in rehab. SPOILER ALERT - I was discharged in just less than 2 months. The care I received can only be described as First Class. From Dr. Mason, the wound surgeon, to Debra, Cindy, and Troy, the shift nurses that cared for me on a daily, their professionalism and positive attitude helped me keep a positive attitude through the entire process. As time passed my wound, which was about 6.3 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 5.5 inches deep when I arrived healed to 1.5 inches long and less than a centimeter deep in less than 2 months. I credit this rapid healing to Dr. Smith, Dr. Mason, and most of all, Loma Lee. I will never forget these 3 people for the rest of my life. I have a positive attitude and these 3 people reinforced this concept. I was treated by them as a person they sincerely cared for and about. I am still seeing Dr. Smith to complete the process. You should be very proud to have these people at Kindred. Thank you Dr. Mason. Loma, I cannot thank you enough.
