We just purchased a new Subaru at Southern States. Our salesman Shannon was excellent, the car was just what we wanted and arrived when promised. However, after everything was done, a two-month wait for the car, it was prepped and delivered and we wrote the check, we were ushered into the "title guy's" office to sign the final papers. After the high-pressure pitch about an extended warranty that we didn't want, the bill of sale had a mandatory arbitration provision for any disputes, which essentially lets the dealer get around the Lemon Laws. We were told that if we didn't sign it, we couldn't buy the car. Period. So we signed it, under duress. As the very last thing that happened before we drove away, this left a very bad feeling with us. It would have been nice had we been told that this was a requirement of buying any car from Southern States.
