It started back in 2006 when two Time Warner Cable representatives came to my door. The story was they had an issue with digital cable in the area and we could "do them a favor" by accepting a free box for 30 days. According to them the cable signal is a closed loop and with us having a box it would help them track down "the problem"\r \r I clarified that the box was free, it would be picked up in 30 days AND there would be NO CHARGE. They confirmed, wrote the notes on the bill and signed that I took possession of the hardware. Guess what happened in 30 days...right, nobody came for the box and I got a bill. I called management and explained how wrong it was to lie to consumers just to make sales. I also demanded the charges be taken off the bill. The manager I spoke with was very apologetic and said he would remove the charge and, yes, that is not a good business practice.\r \r Well, I found out a couple months ago that he DID take off the cable BOX charge but did not remove the MONTHLY $
