Review content:
Dr. Sondheimer performed PRK corrective vision surgery for me approximately 3 months ago. I was initially apprehensive about whether to choose monovision correction or correct my eyes only for distance vision. Dr. Sondheimer is a strong advocate for monovision, however supports whichever decision you make in the end. Dr. Sondheimer's staff were all wonderful and took the time to discuss any and ALL concerns I had throughout the process, and believe me, I was not an easy patient! I did, however always come to my appointments both pre and post-op with ALL my questions written out and sought clear and detailed explanations. Being in the medical field, I was determined to understand the entire process including the stages of recovery from a physiological standpoint. Dr. Sondheimer did take the time to explain in great detail what my eyes were going through during recovery when I asked. He was very responsive to phone calls when I was having concerns and difficulty in the immediate post-op days. I am pleased that I chose Dr. Sondheimer for this procedure and although it had taken approximately 8-12 weeks to have my "best vision", I can now say that I am very happy with the results. The recovery process felt painstakingly slow and I was very frustrated with my vision for the first 3-4 weeks. Dr. Sondheimer assured me that it would get better as time went on and I found that he was right. I just needed to give it more time. I highly recommend doing extensive research and gaining a full understanding of the recovery process before signing up for PRK. The results are amazing but the recovery is much longer than lasik.
