Review content:
I spent this Christmas with my elderly mother in Peekskill, New York. While there, I smelled natural gas every time I entered her laundry closet that houses her washer and dryer, and the boiler unit. I asked her about the smell, and she stated that she has had three different plumbers out to her residence, and all three said that nothing was wrong. I called Con Edison, and they sent someone out immediately. The meter went off the charts when the Con Edison tech tested the boiler unit. The gas was obviously shut down, and we spent the night in the cold and the next morning without hot water. The next morning, I called several plumbing companies, none of which stated that they could work on the type of boiler that was in mother's home. The boiler was a unit manufactured in Canada by a company called NTI. I was reluctant to call Frank & Lindy Plumbing & Heating, because mother told me that she has heard that they are very expensive. Having no success finding a plumber who could work on the NTI unit, I finally called Frank & Lindy. They advised that they were very familiar with the type of boiler in mother's home and that they could certainly fix the problem. They sent out a service technician named Dan R. He was very professional in appearance, manner, and conduct during his visit. He identified within minutes a detected drainage hose, and then identified, after a very detailed inspection, two components that were malfunctioning. The company's "reputation" for being expensive proved true in my opinion, as I thought the cost for the repair to be certainly much more than what I would have expected. But perhaps you get what you pay for. Three previous companies missed what Dan R. had identified were problems. The parts had to be ordered, and when they arrived, mother advised that Dan R. returned to complete the repairs, and that he was an absolute gentlemen, taking the time to explain how to look out for problems in the future. Expensive, but the repair was done correctly, by a very professional tech.
