Businiess name:  Elk Candy Co.
Review by:  Racheline M.
Review content:
I have been visiting the Elk Candy Company in Germantown since I was a kid. The store has actually been in business for 68 years, and despite a brief closing and a location change, it's still going strong. All their chocolate (milk, dark and white) is made on premises and their special holiday items for Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas and New Year's often sell out days and sometimes even weeks in advance. Among other things, they make the best gingerbread houses in New York that are free of any unedible structural details and are populated with marzipan figures -- often Hansel & Gretel with a witch! In fact, it's the Elk's marzipan that is the number one reason to go -- it's the best I've ever had, and it's something I try everywhere I go. My personal favorite? Marzipan acorns (green tear-drop shaped marzipan dipped in dark chocolate on the rounded end).
