I can not express the amazing dental care and work I have received over the last year I have been a patient at EDHG! The first visit I was made aware that my front tooth, which had a root canal from a childhood accident, was no longer viable after Dr Scharf examined my x-rays. Whether my prior dentist failed to see this or it was a recent development, I felt I was in good hands. Dr. Scharf recommended a dental implant given it was my front tooth and my age (30). For anyone who has been through the implant process knows how extremely long and how patient one must be! Once my front tooth was extracted (an inevitable yet horrifying step), Dr. Scharf had customized my flipper (retainer with a fake tooth) whenever it needed adjustment in a matter of minutes! Although I was still insecure of not actually having a front tooth, I received so many compliments from family and friends who said "they would have no idea" I was wearing a retainer with a fake tooth because it was so close matching to my other front teeth. After the bone grafting and the actual implant was placed by a referred Oral Surgeon 4 months from when I started this journey, my implant was the <5% chance of failing. Heartbroken of having to restart the clock now 5 months in, I heeded my oral surgeon's and Dr Scharf's of trying the implant for a second time. They both were convinced and believed this is the best long term solution for my case. I again was distraught knowing another 6-7 months ahead of me of waiting until the bone grafting healed and the second implant would be placed and again healed and wearing the flipper. I asked Dr Scharf if there is anything I can do to improve my smile while I just wait. My bottom teeth were crooked as I never wore braces and so he suggested an express Invisalign. I started in February 2016 (one month after the first implant failure) and just completed my last tray this month, August. I am blown away with how perfectly straight my bottom teeth are!!!!! Now I will have an uncovering of my second dental implant which has proven successful beginning of September and will be going through a whole cosmetic process for fitting of my dental implant crown and surrounding teeth & whitening all through Dr. Scharf who has been non-stop positive of how I wont believe my smile at the end of this 14 month journey! I am very lucky to feel I have the best of the best and have ultimate trust in him. I can not wait to have a retainer-less mouth and regain my confidence when I smile. It's been a loooonnnngggg road, yet I am so happy we didn't take any short cuts, i.e. a bridge, as much as I resisted :) I was impatient and upset to continually wear my flipper; however, the Drs were right. I feel I receive the upmost care and attention at every visit. Everyone deserves this feeling!
