QUALITY: (1) Contractor’s written words: “Pressure treated posts (at least 2 feet in ground w/ cement)”. Most posts 12”-15”. Some only 11”. Contractor claimed he meant he would “try” to get 2 ft deep. Not what was written. (2) 85 ft of fence 6 degrees off level. 5” off vertical one end. Highly noticeable. Told Customer it would cost to fix. (3) Frame w/ nails into nothing. (4) Frame toe-nailed w/ no wood-to-wood contact. (5) Ground clearance promised <1”. Actual varies from flush to 4 1/2". Big gaps. (6) Slats not nailed. (7) Slats missing wood. (8) Sunk nails 1/4" into 5/8” slats (near halfway). SCHEDULE: Estimate 4-5 days. Day 1: Great weather ’til 3 pm. Workers showed up noon. Worked 3 hrs until rain. Day 2: No crew. Contractor couldn’t explain. Day 3: Great weather. Workers arrived noon & took lunch. Worked 3 hrs. Three dry days = 6 hrs work. Day 4: Workers moved to other job. Started Customer’s job 1:30 pm. (5) Day 5: Construction started 2:00 p.m. Day 6: So far, 3 1/2 days wasted from late starts, missing crew, or errors. Contractor tried to blame weather. Day 7: Final day. 3-4 days behind. COST CONTROL: Many losses. Damaged property (several items). Refused to repair. Buried wires in cement. Told Customer to fix it all. Stored cement in covered patio on newly-stained floor. Mixed cement next to patio. Had to pressure wash. Hauled 80 lb cement in wheelbarrows to other jobs across yard. Wrecked area of yard. Damaged grass from debris piles left 7 days. Customer had to pay all repairs. Contractor used electricity w/o permission for high-wattage jackhammer. Should bring generator. BUSINESS RELATIONS: Communication marginal. Ignored almost all requests. Used Customer tools w/out permission. Used yard as waste dump & as storage for 2 other jobs. MANAGEMENT: Poor. Lack of daily cleanup. Large debris left 7 days solidified on ground. Other waste strewn around site. Filled Customer trash. No room for house garbage. SUMMARY: Problems w/ quality, schedule, customer property, etc. NOT recommended
