Absolutely horrible service. I was towed during the freakish storm on Sunday, 10/29/11 by Karas Motors. I was on my way to work (my job is critical logistics with CANCER therapy machines, by the way), and slid into a snowbank. I was on a 16 hour shift, and could not leave my post for more than a few minutes. Long story short, before I could get to my car for AAA to tow it, the state police had Karas tow it to their facility. I get to Karas to pick up my car, pay for it and the cashier tells me it's $260. This is the breakdown: $80 for the tow, $80 for labor, $54 for storage, $19 for gas mileage, and the rest on tax and some other BS fee that I couldn't even read on the invoice. So I naturally start asking the cashier why the cost was so high, and then big Joe Karas (actually he is a fat old guy, and the owner) with a big time attitude, and doesn't really care about anything I have to say. I just wish my mom wasn't waiting outside. I end up paying the exhorbitant fee, and now I'm $260 down for a 3 mile tow, and for putting a hook on under my car to get it out of the snowbank. Oh, and $54 on storage. I just hope this review in someway makes that fat piece of crap lose some business. There are tons of other tow companies, so if you're in the Waterbury area, please use someone else!!!
