I was initially told my exam would be around $60. When I added a contact prescription, it immediately went up to close to $200. Upon receiving my prescription for glasses, I immediately purchased frames at Costco as they were nicer than Sears' frames and were WAY more economical. Upon returning to Sears to get my contact prescription, I was given a prescription that lacked all the requisite information. I did not know this and returned to Costco who rejected the prescription for lack of information. When I returned to the Sears Optometrist, the staff gave me the run around about not being able to give me my prescription without the Optometrist present as they were legally not allowed to go into her files. I left Sears and went back another day when the Optometrist was there. She wrote me, yet, another ""prescription"". When I returned to Costco I was AGAIN rejected and told the Optometrist did not write the measurements for the lenses. By this time, I was furious! The Costco staff were very helpful and called the Optometrist and the staff faxed over another copy of the INACCURATE prescription. The Costco staff then informed me they thought the Sears Optometrist was sending the wrong prescription on purpose as she wanted my business. Well, she was NEVER going to get my business after all the aggravation she caused me and time spent driving back and forth to Costco AND Sears. Costco is NOT close to my house. After sending a legal letter and months of back and forth with the nutty Sears Optometrist I finally got her to give Costco my prescription. (Unfortunately, I still have yet to receive my copy of the prescription.) Additionally the Sears Optometrist tried to charge me $18 above the price of Costco's charge PER BOX! My advice: FIND ANOTHER OPTOMETRIST or you will suffer the consequences!! Pros: Cannot recall any Cons: Will not give you prescription without a hassle.
