Review content:
My son attends college at Murray State University and had a starter go out in his vehicle. We searched online for automotive repair in Murray and were directed to Harlan Automotive's website, which uses the "servicepal" quote system. Upon running a quote for a starter, the quote returned a range from $209-275 for the job, which we thought was reasonable and had the vehicle towed there. In dealing with Harlan the next day, my quote was for $445. I questioned the quote with the securepal estimate, and was told "securepal" had a glitch and didn't factor in that the Ford Explorer was a v8, and that practically doubled the price of the part. Harlan bragged on using only NAPA high quality parts. We were charged $316.78 for the part, and it wasn't even new, it was remanufactured. NAPA's website lists the same part at $175. But at the time, I'd still have to pay for diagnostic and then tow to someone else, so I went ahead and bit the bullet at $445. They were friendly and prompt and I'm sure did a good job, but we were definitely overcharged extremely. The good news is Secure Pal is a guaranteed system so they will be getting a copy of our receipt and said we will be refunded the difference.
