I am a mom with 3 young kids. I traded in my sienna mini van for a GMC Envoy with the Good Car Company because I needed the 4 wheel drive living in our new home out in the country. I have never had my character assaulted or been dishonored to the extent that I was with Good Car Company. I purchased the vehicle with an extended warranty in December. I asked upon purchase that a few things be fixed and they did agree to do that. One of those things was taken care of, the other 2 were not. Within the first 2 days of purchase I noticed a sound that freaked me out. It ended up being the wheel bearing, and they said they'd take care of it. Days were passing and they weren't telling me when they'd do the work, meanwhile the sound was getting louder and, having my 3 kids with me all the time, I was getting really worried. I finally called and told them I would just bring it up there that day. They scrambled and set an appointment for me the next day. The gentleman on the phone told me they'd give me their Buick terraza to drive for the day. Sounded great. When I got there, they told me I'd be driving this other van. I wish I could upload pictures here because I took them. That day I had to go to several meetings and all my friends and family got to see how I was treated. This van, an old ford minivan, had a shattered rear view mirror, the check engine light was on, the low tire pressure signal was on, the power locks wouldn't work, and it had less than a quarter tank of gas. It didn't feel or sound safe, and I had my kids with me all day, but I felt like I had no other option since they were doing the repair on my SUV. After that day, I hoped I'd never have to see them again. The other repairs that hadn't been done I just told them to ship me the parts and I'd have my mechanic take care of it. But then, 30 days after I'd purchased the envoy, my power steering blew. I managed to get it in to my mechanic and called up the warranty company. They said they had nothing on file under my name or my VIN number. After calls back and forth to Good Car Company and the warranty company for 3 days, finally I got news that the warranty wouldn't cover my power steering lines anyways, and it's a $630 repair. So at that point I felt really scammed. I'd been out a vehicle for nearly the whole week, with the weekend approaching when nobody would be available, and my warranty didn't seem to be valid though I'd paid $230 for it. I called Good Car Company to see if they were going to try to make things right, but instead, the guy who answered the phone, Thom, called me a b*tch and a "crazy broad" to the owner of the company. Then the owner, Joe, talked to me personally and continued to bully me by claiming I should have called sooner (I'd been calling endlessly that week), should have given them an estimate (they never asked me for one), and he had no interest in the fact that they'd not completed what they'd said they'd do, that his employee had just slandered me horribly, or that they had treated me and my children poorly with their "auction van" loaned to me for the day. He claimed he saw my vehicles and that because I live on a dirt road, he wasn't going to put me in an $8000 vehicle. It was one day (and we do all live in Michigan)! So to sum it up, I bought a vehicle that had hidden problems that Good Car Company didn't want to deal with. They gave me worse than poor customer service, they hurt me personally and shamed me. Please beware, the prices may look good but it is SO not worth the disappointment later. They are not accredited with the Better Business Bureau, or any other accrediting organizations.
