Review content:
Sometimes I like a place because it feels so un-Seattle. You know, either overdone, too indie, too dirty. This is exactly the feeling I had when I entered Bowie Salon to get a cut and color. Wow, I'm not in Capital Hill anymore, or am I? It's a sparcely decorated space, graced only with subtle gray tones. Cement floor, white chairs, black salon seats. It's wonderfully underdone. And, call me crazy, but I adore being greeted by a cheery British woman at the front desk. It just whisks me away from Seattle.
I had an appt. with Devan, but I'm sure all the stylists are well trained. I liked this place becuse it's evenly priced ($50 cuts, $60 and up for color) and they don't push the product on you. I hate it when the stylist makes me feel my hair will never look good without the $100 bottle of cream she just used to style it. Spare me. This is not the M.O. at bowie and I love that. Devan took time to really look at my face and how I dressed determine what color and cut suited me best. I'm now devoted to her. Overall great experience in a small independant non-Seattle-ish salon!
