Stacy Carabelli was the Technician who visited me today. His report reads: "gave customer a price for a 40 gallon natural gas standard vent water heater with a 6 yr warranty - Whi-045 with 15% Sr. dis and 10% sp dis with a total of $942.07."
For purposes of comparative bids I should have asked for the model of water heater, and the prices itemized for equipment and labor. Would have been nice if it were offered that way without my needing to ask. Staff member(s) who visited my home previously asked me how old the water heater was. I didn't know (at the time), so told them the condo was built in 1985. I was told by a previous tech that I was in danger of failure of the heater which would result in a significant spillage of water, and that lifespan for a water heater is seldom more than 15 yrs. HOWEVER, when I looked more carefully, my heater was installed by Aiello before I purchased my condo. The date on the cover of the manual, in a clear plastic pocket on the side of the heater said "Built 2008." So, according to Aiello staff, I could have as many as seven more years of useful service on a unit you installed. And yet, although there was no pressure, Stacy asked if I'd like to schedule an installation or think about it some more. I told him I wanted to think about it some more. Now that I have, I do not intend to make a purchase at this time.
Apart from that, Stacy was friendly, polite, thorough -- all of which I appreciated very much. I would have preferred he had told me there were several more years of useful life in the heater I own.
