Review content:
I engaged Tradition Furniture Restoration, (owned by Mike Herchan) to refinish a matched set of bedroom furniture. Mike did the refinishing, delivered the pieces, accepted full payment, but never showed me that he'd damaged one piece, the vanity table. In time I noticed that he had, somehow, sliced off the bottom two inches of one leg. (This unusual antique has eight legs, so the table was still level.) Unfortunately, I discovered the damage just two weeks before I was scheduled to move out of state. I took time-stamped photos and completely a complicated move safely.
When I was settled in Maryland, I called Mike. He did not deny that he'd done the damage. He said that the repair estimate I'd gotten ($500) was too high. Then he hung up on me.
Since then I've left voice mail (calls are never returned), written letters, and emailed him. I got the piece repaired for less than half the original quote.
Mike now claims that he has no responsibility and my attempts to collect the repair cost are extortion. He has threatened legal action if I post a review.
