* Mixed Skills Classes:
House painting tips - techniques, plaster repair, minor carpentry repair ( wood replacement ), various painting stripping techniques, tile cleaning & regrouting, garage repair/restoration and much more!
This class meets once a week.We will group students in working teams of 3 crafters. Each student will work on a skill set for one week and then they will exchange places, until each student has worked in all 3 skills. Between classes each week, students are encouraged to communicate with class instructor by email /

. Special projects,& creative input is encouraged. After this class you will be knowlegable enough to seek house painting or home maintenance jobs for local property & home owners. Fixed income seniors and single or low income home owners. This is a blended learning class!

* How to get started in your own house painting or residential home maintenance business.
This class is straight forward, not theory. To the point and practical. Class will be a weekly lecture.We will discuss where are the best places to find this kind of work in the Chicago area. How to get started in on your own personal service. How to choose the right tools for house painting or home maintenance.And where are the more helpful stores to buy your paint, tools and seek professional trade advice from the staff. Between classes students will be encouraged to communicate they're questions to the class instructor via email. This is a blended learning class.

Explaining and evaluating today's technology 2006 and what it means to you and me! Conversations.
Course objectives:
Our goal is to alert and inform the community what impact that technology is having right now and in the emerging year 2006. Those communities who lag behind in technology( now and in the future ) will be among the last areas where business and industry will settle. Students are encouraged to bring their computer or technology related questions and items such as laptops, ipods, smart cellphones or handheld devices. We will seek to get your answers and evaluate your special computer related problem. The course objective is to embrace technology in a real active solution oriented way!

How To Create Your Own Website or Blog
This class will demonstrate to students how to build and maintain a starter website or blog. We will also discuss and learn about podcasting. There are many people, groups, businesses etc. in the community who still don't really understand how to even begin the process of developing a website. This class will seek to answer all of your questions in those regards.....'We now have the technology to help reverse negative living patterns....If we choose not to utilize these gifts. That's a choice regardless'.

Local Oral History Project Series
Instructor Sy Bounds will demonstrate how you can explore the 'forgotten jewells of the past. Examining local African American history , lore and memorable characters, former neighborhood leaders, the early town storytellers, the funnymen & women, salt of the earth types, the outstanding teachers / citizens, the town watchers, families, unique athletes, actvists, citizen soldiers and ordinary citizens of the west suburban areas!!!
We will create a blog or website that documents our class research and findings.All students will be encouraged to communicate with the instructor by email during the week!

About the instructor
Sy Bounds - Creative Strategist - Visionary
Born in 1945, Sy describes himself as a visionary. And rightfully so as his very rich experience - in fields as varied as: Broadcasting, jazz, performing arts, computers, teaching, writing, painting, crafts, history, technology, housepainting, independent creative research, have provided him with a rich base of knowledge that has propelled him to seek and explore the many levels of possibility that creative contemporary living offers individuals and society.
He is bringing his acute awareness and mind-expanding ideas to The Broadview Park District and with these his high-tech audio-visual know-how in the areas of podcasting, blogging, audioblogging and several forms of long distance conferencing. He deems himself a creative strategist and continues to be in the forefront of new ideas and emerging technology. Sy Bounds has mentored a couple generation of young people. And now, he will share his wisdom and unique experiences with another generation of youth!
