I love love loooove UCSB. All the UC schools are generally good, but as a graduate of UCSB I can tell you why this school is the best. The first reason is obvious, the campus is right on the coast. The campus is beautiful and you can't beat the views you get from some of the taller buildings like the library. Bike trails all through campus make it easy to get around. And like most schools they offer free services to students, for example, law advice. I had to take my landlord to court after a money dispute but before I went I got a ton of free advice from the lawyers they have on campus. Most students live in Isla Vista, which is adjacent to the campus so it's convenient to get to class. The students there are friendly and there is always something to do either in IV or downtown.
