We signed a one year contract with this company, which, (as usual) costs more monthly than a multiple year contract. We routinely do this so that we can evaluate services and shop competitively. Now, that it has been well over a year (16mths), they refuse to cancel our services. I am outraged for several reasons. 1) We pay higher monthly premiums to have the shorter contract. Multiple years receive a discount. We have been and continue to pay the much higher one year contract price. 2). Reputable companies require a contract to recoup costs of initial equipment...Our home was already hardwired for an alarm system and we had to pay upfront the full price for the upgrade in our alarm panel. 3). A reputable company would not automatically renew your contract for A WHOLE year, after you fulfilled your initial contract. I don't know of any other service that does this, generally you become a month to month customer after your contract is fulfilled. This is what TAG is literally banking on....that you, as they initially required, set up automatic payments and miss the "window" of cancellation. Obviously I will NOT miss the window to cancel.....I will however make sure I inform as many as possible of this company's ugly practice(s). NOT A GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE!!
