Review content:
On two occasions we took our bunnies to seek help and had a terrible experience (thankfully we found a much better pet hospital by now). We never got to see the veterinarian, Dr. Mitchell just called to give his diagnosis over the phone. \r \r The first time we paid almost 400 USD for the treatment and some antibiotics of our two bunnies. Additionally he wanted to operate one bunny on a cut she got and charge over 600 USD for the surgery. When we did not opt for the surgery Dr. Mitchell made clear that it is a life threatening situation. At home we cleaned the area and put a band aid on the cut (which just stayed in place overnight) to cover the skin flap. It healed perfectly in one week by itself and our bunny is happy and healthy again.\r \r The second time one bunny had an abscess on her cheek. Dr. Mitchell told us special lab tests are needed to determine which antibiotic will help (for 200 USD), the drainage of the abscess would cost over 900 USD and most likely won't resolve the problem and will recur. The most humane would be to euthanize the animal. We love our bunnies very much and wanted a second opinion. The Research Pet Hospital charged us 90 USD for nothing (except the phone call with the diagnosis).\r \r We took our pet to the Black House Creek Animal Hospital and what a difference! For 288 USD the abscess was drained and antibiotics given. We went daily, even on Sunday, to get everything flushed out, they charged 10 USD per session! Everyone was very caring and two weeks later our bunny was fine!\r \r I do not know if the other vets at Research Pet Hospital are more caring, but Dr. Mitchell is definitely just after the money, right away suggesting surgery and expensive lab work. We are very happy that we didn't get intimidated and got a second opinion. Otherwise we would not have our beautiful bunny anymore!
