Review content:
After an oil change at an outlet facility (Not Subaru related). I noticed an oil burning smell and figured it was a little spilled oil hitting a manifold as it dripped down. After 700 miles of driving, the problem was, now intermittent and only happened when the car was facing down hill. I had the service facility check the oil drip issues and none were noted. I continued to drive the Subaru Forester for another day and scheduled it into GJ Subaru to evaluate the problem. After an evaluation and drive, it was determined that the oil had left a trail but was no longer active. I was told to return the car when it occurred again. Sure enough, same day, it occurred again. I called to let Chris know about the issue and he said bring the car buy ASAP and before 4:45 so the tech could have a look. I barely arrived at 4:45 and Chris and the Tech were immediately available. This time, the issue was discovered! It was not oil. It was burning antifreeze! The oil change outlet over filled the overflow tank and caused the antifreeze to back up and drip out once the car was warm. When the vehicle was facing down hill, with a hot motor, the antifreeze flowed out, hit the manifold and smouldered. I appreciate the dedication of GJ Subaru for finding this oversight caused by a servicer. My faith in Subaru products and their service team is stronger than ever.
