This is 5th custom built home and this one has been more 'trouble, aggravation & frustration' than the other 4 COMBINED!!. This 'builder' is very, um, - tell you what, contact me before you hire this individual to build you ANYTHING. In any case, VIDEO record EVERY interaction with this so called 'builder' BEFORE you agree to ANYTHING. He writes NOTHING down and later, if there is a disagreement, it's you against him. His 'contract' that I signed ( BIG mistake ) has more strikeouts and over-strikes than a 10 yr old learning to use a typewriter. Get a lawyer BEFORE you sign ANYTHING from this individual or his so called 'company'. He is unwilling to provide documentation for his expenses so one has to simply 'take his word' for what he has spent. Great opportunity for 'abuse'. All he has to do is order excessive material for the job and any unused material that is returned GOES INTO HIS POCKET - he calls this a 'credit to the Builder' ( himself ) despite the fact he didn't take out the construction loan, nor is he responsible for its repayment, but any material overages ( ordered by him - intentionally ?? ) that can be 'returned' - guess what- that goes into HIS pocket and YOU, as the buyer, get to P A Y for it.. Somehow, ( his son - surprise - told me this is a 'normal' contract ) this, I'll be kind, 'person' seems to think that 1) I take out a construction loan 2) he gets unfettered & unquestioned access to that money and 3) in the end I have to take HIS word as to the costs of construction without ANY documentation or proof. Oh, by the way, his um, houses, at lease in my case, come with NO warranty, guarantee, NOTHING, again, so that this 'builder' can stuff more OF YOUR MONEY into his pockets.
