At 31 years old, a college graduate and a professional woman I found myself in need of the services at CCFW. (women of ever race, age and socioeconomic class find themselves in this situation) I had been on some doctor prescribed medication that interacted with my birth control and I ended up pregnant. This obviously was not an easy decision to make but considering my current life circumstances and some other health issues continuing the pregnancy was not an option for me. Where I am located in NC I had 3 clinic options all about 3 hours away. I ended up going with CCFW because they were able to schedule my appointment the fastest. I was at about 6 or 7 week along in my pregnancy at this point. They scheduled my appointment for only five days after contacting them. Anyone would be nervous in this situation and I was no exception. I am going to explain my experience hoping that anyone else considering CCFW will find it informative. Upon check in at the front desk and doing a small amount of paper work with in five minutes they had taken me back to start the process. You have to go through many steps before the actual surgery happens. Once you are taken back you are asked for a urine sample (yes they give you a plan Styrofoam cup with no lid and a sharpie to write your name on it but I did not find this a big deal considering the circumstances, I would rather pee in a "coffee cup" rather than them tack on an extra 70 bucks for a "specimen container") You are taken to a private bathroom and there is a small closed window to set your sample in. After this you are taken into another room to have you blood pressure taken, this is done with standard doctors office BP cup. Next you you are moved into a small lab in which a nurse pricks your finger to get a blood sample. This is kind of annoying but not painful.
