Review content:
I started bringing my 10 year-old son to Sylvan in Glendale at the beginning of the summer. After a thorough assessment by the Sylvan staff, we enrolled him in the writing program as I felt that his writing skills at the end of fourth grade were not up to par. Fast forward to September and the first week of school. My son had a book report due on the first day of school for a book his teacher assigned to read at the end of the summer. His teacher's feedback was that my son's writing was at grade level, and where he should be for the beginning of 5th grade. I am confident that this would not have happened if he had not been attending Sylvan. The staff works very hard to design a program that is the right fit for your child, and they make every effort to have your child meet with a teacher that is the right fit for their learning needs and style. They have programs for many subjects, including one focusing on Organizational/Study skills. Taylor, the director of curriculum (I think that's her title) is smart, attentive and compassionate. She and the rest of the staff are responsive to my concerns, and the atmosphere feels very personal. They are also very flexible in scheduling your child's tutoring. Its a little expensive, but I would highly recommend the Glendale Learning Center.
