My daughter has been going to a private school where there are a lot of Chinese kids. We noticed her English is not really good because she has been traveling to Taiwan every Summer. Another reason could be that too many Chinese students at the school and my wife speaks Chinese to her at home. So we decided to get tutoring help for her. I did a lot of research and was debating Sylvan or private tutor. It just happened that one of my friends has her daughter going to Sylvan Learning Center at Mountain View for about 1 year. I had a good conversation with her. She highly recommended Sylvan over both Kumon & private tutor (she tried both before Sylvan). So I decided to give a try. My daughter improved her reading skills from a "D" grade to "B+" after 36 hours in the summer. I am so happy and want to share this with others. I think Sylvan did a good job at motivating my daughter and design a right program that includes tutoring & homework.
