First, I'd like to say I was satisfied with my stylist, Anna. It's everything else, that leave little to be desired. Namely professionalism and being spoken to as I were five by Louise, an instructor. My account is below.\r \r I just had the most unprofessional experience at Regency Beauty School in Elgin Illinois, and instead of getting indignant, ignorant, and acting a fool at the time of the experience, I held my tongue with the intention of informing all those considering this place as an option for services of my experience. I have gone to Regency off and on for a few years at various locations. Today, I went to the Elgin location located on Randall Rd., which I have been a customer prior. The service I was to receive was a wash and thermal style. There are a laundry list of things that I could outline that didn’t sit well with me starting with the lack of introductions being offered to me by the stylist or the instructor who placed their hands on my head after removing my original stylist with whom I had no problem to the issue I that has brought me to leaving a review.\r \r Long story short, we were running out of time for my wash and thermal style. That was explained to me, and I understood and would have been okay with that. However, Louise, the instructor I take great issue with felt that she needed to scold me in a loud and demeaning tone by the way, that I shouldn't tell the students how to do my hair. That they are taught a certain way, and that they are not licensed practitioners, and that I should call an instructor if I have an issue. \r \r I told her I didn't realize a license was needed to part my hair (which is highly textured) in smaller sections when being blow dried, but that I understand. When she was done, I told her I would appreciate it if she would please not speak to me in that tone again. Louise stated that she “doesn't have time for tone” and that she is” abrupt” and that is how she speaks to students and people. I was speechless. However, she continued to stay and listen to me tell the other instructor, Michelle, that I understand what is being said. That it’s not a matter of what is said, sometimes it’s how it’s being said. I then told Louise, obviously you have time to still be here, so it’s not an issue of being abrupt, you just simply don’t care how you speak to a paying customer. \r \r In my opinion there is no excuse for a lack of professionalism, tact and business acumen in a professional setting. I realize I am not paying a large sum of money in a school environment. However, it is no excuse to speak to paying clients in a manner equivalent of scolding a child. If you are looking to spend your money on intimidation and reprimand for informing a student on how to handle your hair type this is your place. Otherwise, skip this location, and visit the Regency in Crystal Lake, IL. \r \r Oh, I did speak with the supervisor, Christine, regarding this issue. She did apologize for Louise, but quite frankly, the apology should have come from Louise. She was bold enough to speak to me in an unprofessional manner out in the open; she should have been made to apologize out in the open regardless of how insincere the apology would have been.\r \r K. Wiggins\r
